Wyoming Division
of the
Lehigh Valley

This small layout depicts portions of the Lehigh Valley Railroad Mainline from Allentown through Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley to Sayre on the New York line, circa 1974-1976. The layout is HO scale and is being built in an irregularly shaped basement room approximately 12' by 18'. The benchwork, track and wiring are complete, and scenery is underway. The Leigh Valley's Sayre and Allentown yards are represented by hidden, under the benchwork, storage yards.

Originally built to haul Anthracite coal, this colorful Northeast carrier was inching into the black with fast piggyback and merchandise trains between New York City and Buffalo and the West. The "Valley" was known for its Alco, EMD, an GE power in a variety of paint schemes. The Lehigh Valley became part of Conrail in 1976.
