From Dan Macke in 2013: 'I am a retired conductor and worked many of the locations in the photos, at a much later date, of course. I believe the crossing in the photo is Murray Road near Ivorydale Yard and the locomotive looks like an NYC 0-8-0 to me. B&O 0-8-0's usually had a circular number plate or Capitol Dome on the smoke box. I grew up near Riverside Yard and saw lots of NYC and B&O steam as a youngster. Also, if you look closely, you can make out the cantilever signal in the distance. That would be the last Big Four signal before NA Tower's home signal.'
