Jim Foster - Modeler The HOn30" Gophir Tramway & Mining Co. is a serious model with a ridiculous premise, a modern-day narrow gauge industrial railroad serving the brick making and coal mining industries, set in eastern Ohio in September 1970. This was just prior to passage of federal Clean Air legislation which dramatically changed the market for high-sulfur Ohio coal. The Gophir measures 6' x 16' at present and operations are somewhat reminiscent of the East Broad Top. Motive power is almost exclusively diesel critters and creatures; there are steam locomotives on the roster but no Gophir steamer has been called for service for several years (really).
