Dan Hetzel - Modeler
The railroad was designed first and foremost as a coal hauler covering Virginia and Eastern West Virginia. (The Dayton is not the one in Ohio, but is actually a small town in Va.) Dan wrote a nice brochure describing the coal operations on the railroad, both modeled and not modeled. Initially Dan modeled interchanges with a number of prototype railroads, the B&O, C&O among them. He also connected to the other model railroads in the group. He eventually changed his operations to where the only modeled interchanges were with model railroads and all of the engines were repainted into Shenandoah System colors.
The first operating session was in January 1979, the last in June 2007.
