Members of the CRC - Modelers
The Crossroads Railroad Club, Inc. was formed in 1978 to promote interest in railroading, ranging from full-size to the smallest models. The club's home is the basement of 304 N. Dixie Drive, Vandalia, Ohio. At that location, construction on two large layouts, 1 in N gauge (1/160 scale) and 1 in HO gauge (1/87 scale), was begun shortly after the club was created. Today, these layouts represent 2 of the finest examples of model railroading in the Dayton-Springfield area. The club currently has approximately 110 active members, who come from almost all the communities in the Miami Valley. The club was incorporated in 1995. Being a railroad club, not just a model club, most members are interested in some aspect of the real railroads.
In addition to the layouts, Crossroads Railroad Club maintains a large reference library, with some magazines dating to the 1940's. The library includes archival photographs, timetables, and other material which assist members in their modeling efforts. The club maintains their own model spray booth and an equipped workshop for use by club members. We also hold a continuing series of how-to clinics where members can share their knowledge and experience as well as hold periodic engine pulling contests for members.
